Derrow, Margaret House
Category: Residential Landmark/Farmstead
Location: West Main Street, Claysville
A modest Gothic cottage built along the National Road, this frame structure is a two-story L-shaped four-bay house. It is framed under a steep roof braced by long vertical brackets on its front facing gable end. Tall slender narrowly-divided paired lancet windows are set in this projected facade and a one story porch covers the setback half. There is a one-story ell in the rear of the house.
In the last quarter of the 21st century the house was removed from its original site to serve as a garage to the neighboring Montgomery House. [p. 132 POP]
